Sunday 23 August will be a busy day for the association. A general meeting of members will take place at 10.30 am at Tobruk House, followed by another opportunity to view our 85/85 exhibition from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to see the exhibition, why not come along? With 85 fascinating items telling the story of the siege, it’s well worth a visit. You won’t be disappointed!

Also on this day, a service commemorating the relief of some of the battle-weary Australian troops in Tobruk by the Polish Independent Carpathian Brigade in August 1941 will be held at the Shrine of Remembrance at 12 noon. Australians and Poles fought alongside one another in the Western Desert, and ROTA continued this close relationship after the war by advocating for Polish servicemen seeking a new life in Australia as part of the country’s post-war migration program. This is bound to be a moving service commemorating a little-known story.
