Vale David Bullard

It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of David Ernest Francis Bullard OBE RFD ED. David served as the honorary solicitor of our association for many years on a pro bono basis and was made a life member in 2019 in recognition of his outstanding service.

David had a distinguished career as a solicitor and dedicated over three decades to serving in the Australian Army. Throughout his service, he held numerous leadership roles across various infantry battalions, including the Royal Victoria Regiment. He made significant contributions to officer training and staff development, serving with the Command and Staff Training Unit and the Officer Cadet Training Unit. His leadership also shone through his key appointments at Headquarters 3 Division and other command units.

David’s commitment and leadership led him to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His remarkable service was honoured with several prestigious awards, including being made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire, the Reserve Force Decoration with First Clasp, and the Efficiency Decoration.

His long and distinguished legal career, which included many voluntary positions, stands as a testament to his generosity and commitment to charity. He greatly respected the Tobruk veterans and the work carried out by the association.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to David’s wife, Pat, their seven children, and their families.
